Visit with Florence

She has great bubble wrap to pop!

She's 97 years old and still happy to put up with our antics.  Love you Florence!

Noodles

Fun last summer. Still Fun. Noodles http://6756712483.blogspot.com/2012/06/noodles.html.

"I'm stomping on some noodles. . . . Slippery. . . . . Bouncing!"

"Mama! Eat my noo-dee-uls! Eat my noo-dee-uls"

Storyteller

Andrés is a natural-born storyteller. Since he has been able to talk he has been memorizing his books and "reading" them back to us. Now he is very good at making up entirely new stories inspired by the pictures. As you can see, these are often hilarious. At night after we put the boys to sleep and in the morning before they are out of bed, we can often hear Andrés "reading" to Pau.

Botanist

Pau is fascinated by plants. Since we arrived in LA he has been identifying familiar ones ("Look at the banana tree!"), discovering the differences between plants here and in Abu Dhabi, ("Why these palm trees don't have dates?"), and learning about new plants, ("That flower is poisonous. But does it poke?"). Makes Mama proud.

Are these two related?

Kid Space - Pau Being Pau

Today's (partial) Harvest

These are the tomatoes Pau picked in Grandma's garden today (minus the ones we ate on the way to the kitchen).

Dearing Trail with Grandma Judy

I wanted to go for a hike after dinner and Grandma Judy offered to take Andrés and Pau on a walk, too. Little did she know that they would demand to ascend the Dearing Trail with me after a full day of activity. Little troopers.

Andrés Learned How to Swim Today!

Thank you to Naomi for being an amazing teacher.
Now let the REAL summer fun begin!

Aunt Kimiko Visits

She showed us how to make a banana caterpillar and a celery crocodile.
Happy, sleepy cousin "Youknowme" (our nickname for Naomi).

Coldwater Park

This is the park I came to growing up, but when I was a kid it didn't have this awesome little river to play in. I still loved it, though.

Happy Birthday Maya

We hope you enjoyed the chocolate cake we made for you. And Andrés carefully placed the 19 candles (18 plus one for good luck).
